Buzias has been officially declared a spa in 1819. The Romans knew the city under the name of Ahibis. Gheorghe Ciocârlan is the first Romanian doctor who used the mineral waters therapeutically, in 1911.
The climate is transitional, continental, with sub-Mediterranean influences, no sudden extreme temperatures from season to season. The annual average temperature is 10 C (22 C in July and -1C in January). The annual rainfalls quantity varies between 700 and 750mm. The negative ions have sedative effects upon the human organism.
